The Swirly-Girly Dress
This roomy one-piece dress in a traditional-style batik in a modern rainbow color palette is fun, flirty and fabulous. Cut from the same pattern as the Butterfly Dress, it buttons down the back with five buttons and has our signature take-down pleat above the hem so it truly grows with the child. The handmade ruffles in solid fabric are highlighted with Balinese flower braid.
A sweet 2 1/2-year-old happily wears this comfy, colorful dress. And so does her doll. (Every child who models for us gets either a Balinese batik animal or a handmade dress for her doll.) As an example of the handwork and detailing we put into every garment, simple four-hole buttons are sewn on with contrasting thread to give them a custom look. The ruffled trim is handmade by our dressmaker in Bali. The hand-stitching around the skirt bottom is unique to our brand: Snip the decorative stitching, remove it, and the dress grows taller with the child, by two inches.
